Role Summary/Purpose
The Lead Process Application Engineer provides technical support to the Vertical team in the development of a pipeline of potential petrochemical downstream process opportunities incorporating GE Energy products and services. This is done through a consultative, solutions approach in which you will provide P&L neutral designs to the customer demonstrating technical expertise and building customer credibility.

? Act as a conduit to identify and share current and emerging customer technical needs to enhance our tactical and strategic product positioning. Proactively promote and position GE early in the project phase to create value and influence by working closely with consultants, developers & customers. ? Provide technical expertise to Sales & Commercial Operations in selecting, implementing, and developing competitive product applications to address energy efficiency, resource scarcity and environmental requirements. ? Estimate GE equipment and system performance, hardware and price for budgetary estimates. ? Assess competitive system performance & hardware evaluation throughout the entire bid process. ? Identify customer?s needs and maximize the application of the entire GE Energy portfolio of solutions. ? Identify new products and product repositioning and communicate it back to the GE businesses. ? Participate in customer presentations, discussions, negotiations, conferences, and all front line marketing/sales efforts in a technical sales role. Be a catalyst in problem solving ? Lead technical project design and scope at customer meetings maintaining a high level of business acumen. Communicate these project requirements to effectively leverage GE Energy?s matrix organization. ? Train sales force to empower them with the latest technical knowledge and information. ? Qualifications/Requirements

Role Summary/Purpose
Essential Responsibilities
? Invents and develops new and improved ion exchange membranes that result in new products or processes that are competitive in the marketplace. Assists as needed in technically supporting membrane-related marketing, production, and field operations. ? Performs experiments to synthesize new monomers or new formulations of monomers to create novel ion exchange membranes. ? Works with vendors to source and/or develop new membrane substrates and monomers. ? Performs membrane characterization testing in order to define the specific membrane characteristics, i.e. ionic resistance, mechanical properties, chemical resistance, and ion selectivity and supports new membrane qualification ED (electrodialysis) pilot tests. ? Produces well-characterized developmental membranes in the lab and supports scale up to pilot line production and pilot & field qualification. ? Upon completion of successful membrane development and qualification, releases the membrane to Operations with all the necessary paperwork, including detailed work instructions with raw material specifications, mix preparation formulae, and membrane line operating conditions. ? Participates in membrane selection or modification for specific applications as defined by marketing. ? Contributes to troubleshooting field problems associated with ion exchange membranes. ? Attends technical meetings and seminars as required. ? Maintains records appropriate for protection of intellectual property.
Qualifications/Requirements
? Ph.D. in preferably Polymer Chemistry or alternatively, in Synthetic Organic Chemistry.? Industrial experience (minimum two years) with membrane or polymer syntheses, preferably of ion exchange membranes.? Knowledge of pressure and/or preferably ion exchange membrane key performance characteristics.? Ability to plan and perform work alone and as a team member.? Demonstrates good knowledge and experience with Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) practices? Motivated self-starter with the personal initiative to help shape a Growth Program platform? Strong statistical data analysis skills, including Design of Experiments.? Good command of the English language (oral and written); excellent presentation & project management skills.

Role Summary/Purpose
The position serves the global industrial water and process market with emphasis on supporting analytical field-testing activities. Identify and optimize applications for ion exchange membranes, demonstrate feasibility by running in bench or pilot scale test apparatus in our labs, and quantify potential economic benefits. This position is in the R&D Centre of Excellence (COE) for electrodialysis membrane and systems development in Singapore, and will help drive our growth programs globally.
Essential Responsibilities
Plan and conduct statistically meaningful pilot experiments to characterize and optimize membrane devices and processes.
Gather and analyze data and report key results.
Develop value propositions for customer applications.
Lead efforts to install, upgrade, expand, and operate pilot and pretreatment equipment.
Travel to customer sites occasionally to conduct beta tests and support new product introduction.

Essential Responsibilities
Leads projects and initiatives with significant scope and impact to the business; is a recognized expert in a specialized field. The individual will be responsible for complex assignments with long-term business implications.
Executes the design, analysis and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
Recommends approach to meet the technical and program requirements.
Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, scheduling, and contract commitments.
Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems.
Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization.
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments.
Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks.
Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
Qualifications/Requirements
Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science; 3 years experience preferred.
Innovator with a proven ability to develop novel polymers and materials.
Successful track record of meeting commitments & delivering results.
Solid statistical data analysis and scientific method skills.
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.
Strong oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
