RTI International currently has an ongoing program in the United Arab Emirates, supporting the Environmental Agency of Abu Dhabi (EAD). RTI’s desire is to expand beyond the environmental sector in this market, and is seeking a candidate to help us do that. This Business Development position will be charged with leading the growth of the firm’s social sciences business in the United Arab Emirates . He/she will be responsible for working collaboratively with RTI’s current UAE-based staff to continue to strengthen existing in-country relationships as well as establishing and growing business with new customers.

This position requires someone with a combination of technical leadership and business development skills who can leverage the firm’s track record of cross-disciplinary work in social sciences. He/she must be experienced in assessing market opportunities, understanding customer needs and priorities, developing and maintaining relationships across a broad spectrum of stakeholders. He/she will lead in the development of new projects in the UAE and Middle East region, focusing primarily in the health and statistics sectors initially. The expectation is that, as projects are awarded, the person will also serve as the leader or senior member of the project team that executes the work.

The position is for a person to be located in Abu Dhabi, UAE, reporting administratively to the Vice President of Social Policy, Health and Economics Research in RTI’s Social, Statistical, and Environmental Sciences (SSES) business unit. The individual will have extensive international experience and specialized expertise in one or more domains (excluding environmental sciences) applicable to SSES as well as institutional capacity building. He/she will provide senior leadership in the pursuit and development of new business opportunities, working closely with RTI personnel located in the United States, as well as other geographic locations.

Technical Responsibilities:

• Provides technical leadership to project management team, and overall guidance based on his/her international and specialized expertise in the health/social science and policy domain.

• Leads development of proposals for new opportunities, with the expectation of working on awarded projects. The position is expected to reach the point of half-time business development and half-time working on contracts.

• Develops relationships with new clients and stakeholders and positions RTI as a highly reputable firm.

Our client is a fast expanding construction company based in Dubai, and have recently been awarded a large residential project in Jizan Economic City in Saudi Arabia. They are seeking a motivated and experienced Site Manager with expertise in Electrical systems, to help control the project and ensure that the electrical work is completed to the highest standard. This is phase 1 of 4 phases and upon successful completion of the first phase, our client will be first choice for the remaining phases and would ensure another 12 years of work. Thus an opportunity exists for a construction professional to step into a role with big responsibility and develop their career in a challenging environment.

The role will report directly to the Electrical system Project Manager, and will liaise with the Project Management team to ensure all aspects of the project are conforming to design expectations. The main focus of the role will be to manage the day to day on site operations to ensure that all work complies with specifications. The project consists of predominantly low to mid rise buildings, but there is a large portion of infrastructure development like schools, mosques and retail outlets; along with the electrical network connecting all of the buildings.

Our client is a fast expanding construction company with a head office in Dubai and a newly awarded project in Saudi Arabia. With the award of this project they urgently need a Plumbing Engineer to handle all aspects of the plumbing and sewage systems for the entire project.

This is a senior role and will report directly to the project director and liaise with the project management team to co ordinate all efforts. The right candidate will have sufficient experience of working on large development projects; this will consist of all water systems associated with the buildings and the community water network i.e. water supply, distribution and controlling waste/storm water.

The project is in a remote site, so the chosen candidate will be responsible for reviewing the designs provided and liaise with project director for any alterations that may be required. Great care must be taken to ensure all the subcontractors comply with specifications and international regulations.

This position is responsible for the development of the Fund’s requirements for MEPFP systems and for ensuring their incorporation into the design of HQ1 building and for participating in the successful construction and post-construction close-out of the HQ1 Renewal Program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leads the organization of the interface between the staff and the design team. Researches and documents MEPFP requirements from operational staff, and facilitates the delivery of those requirements from design through construction.

• Develops and reviews the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing and Fire Protection (MEPFP) design, energy modeling construction and monitoring, control system integration and commissioning set up. Ensures that the Fund’s requirements are integrated into the design or if their requirements are not feasible for any reason the rationale is communicated.

• Coordinates with FMD O&M Liaison and General Contractor to review and finalize phased renovation of MEPFP systems. Oversees outage process, and serves as the point of contact to resolve issues related to FMD O&M interface.

• Reviews the overall construction project schedule for completion of the various systems work to allow for preconstruction pretesting and testing, occupancy, quality control, and other aspects in relation to the MEPFP systems.

• Supports TGS management and other project management staff in any other area related to the HQ1 Renewal Program as required.

Overview:

The Career Development program at UOP begins with an 18 – 24 month assignment at either UOP’s headquarters in Des Plaines, Illinois, or one of UOP’s regional offices located in Europe and India. Here you will be exposed to a variety of training opportunities including Process Development, Operating Technical Service, Customer Training, Process Engineering, and/or Process Controls Engineering. During these assignments you will gain experience in one or more of UOP’s key refining and petrochemical technologies. After the initial training Career Development Engineers will transfer to Field Operating Service where they will spend between 3-5 years traveling full time to multiple locations around the world supporting UOP customers in operating plants as a process or controls advisor. Engineers completing this career development program have gone on to a variety of UOP positions in R&D, engineering, marketing, field support, project and corporate management.

Directly accountable for:

Initial Training – Participate in 18 – 24 month training program designed to prepare new engineers to be technical advisors.

First two weeks in classroom setting with other new hire engineers learning general administrative information

18 – 24 month training period focused on learning UOP technology and the processes and procedures by which UOP delivers technology to our customers

Four weeks training on Engineering design processes and deliverables

Field Operating Service – 3 to 5 years in duration completing international and domestic assignments.

2 – 6 months of field training

Provide field technical assistance for:

oNew or revamped unit checkouts and startups

oTroubleshooting customer units

oDevelopment activities in commercial units

oCatalyst related field support

Set and meet customer expectations

Follow recommended safety procedures

Provide feedback including suggested improvements on UOP process designs

Manage business expenses to meet both project and cost center budgets

Work effectively with team members

Achieve business goals by assisting with support issues

Adhere to FOS and UOP company policies
