We are searching for an experienced professional or senior editor to assist in overseeing websites content.​ The Editor should possess a degree (B.​A.​) from a four-year college or university.​ A minimum 5 years of related experience training (or equivalent combination of education and experience) required.​ This is a full-time, in-office position. ​

Native English (important) and prefer knowledge Arabic

Key areas of responsibility include:

· Manage campaign-driven content on our websites content and social networks.

· Bring new ideas and online strategies to the team to spark growth in the websites brand

· Effectively communicate with site editors, writers, columnists and bloggers for editorial direction and campaign coordination

· Assist in daily site maintenance: uploading articles into the CMS, flash panel uploads and coordination.

· Assure quality content, grammar, spelling, format consistency and overall site continuity on website’s owned and operated sites

· Use creative thinking and novel strategies to market editorial initiatives and campaigns on the websites.​

· Initiate and coordinate press relations and announcements of site features and projects

Requirements & Qualifications:

· Bachelors Degree, preferably journalism, marketing, mass communication, public relations

· 5+​ years of experience in the online media industry, or magazine publishing

· Experience in editing in social networks!

· Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills

· Accurate and timeliness of work performed and strong interaction with departmental staff, sales force and other departments

· Ability to juggle numerous projects at once under deadline pressure

· Must be organized and deadline oriented

· Experience or knowledge of web development is a strong plus

· Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word

· Experience in Macromedia Fireworks or Photoshop, and Macromedia Dreamweaver will be a big plus!

• The job holder is accountable for effective utilisation of the Company’s Prospect Data Base available in the form of Quote Register, New Business Leads and Leads from Personal Lines to generate sales prospects and to follow up on sales leads in furtherance of the sale of commercial insurance products.

• The job holder is responsible for liaising with the accounts department to ensure effective credit control.

• The job holder is responsible for ensuring effective management and organisation of sales records and ensures effective analysis of such records to supplement the strategic planning process.

• The job holder is responsible for the provision of technical support to underwriting staff as require .

• The job holder will liaise with underwriting staff to ensure all enquiries are accompanied by a full and complete presentation of underwriting information, competitor’s rates/terms/conditions if available and any other commercial/political information for consideration of underwriters and/or reinsurers.

• Review, modify and approve news scripts and copy before air, working closely with writers, correspondents, producers and senior producers.

• Oversee planning, writing, and editing of stories for assigned newscasts.

• Organize and stimulate the creative process and track performance of assigned news team.

• Coordinate with Executive Producer and other Senior Producers and Assignment Editors on selecting timely news material.

• Actively participate in editorial meetings

• Clearly understand the major stories of the day and their relationship to the company mission and viewers

• Review all scripts for assigned newscasts to ensure that they adhere to broadcast standards

• Obtain legal and editorial clearances from Executive Producer and VP, News

• Oversee all quality assurances and live content material.

• Ensure that all additional production details are completed, including graphics, chyrons, etc.

• Provide Control Room with critical information regarding the timing, content and execution of live shots while program is on-air.

• Ability to maintain composure in the control room

• Follow commands of Senior Supervising Producer in the control room when breaking news is on the air.

• Agressively pursue breaking news and assist Assignment Desk and other newscast producers during coverage of breaking news

• Remain creative and cool under pressure

• Input and conduct final review of show content in Cinegy to ensure a clean broadcast.

• Ensure that assigned programs are MOS active fifteen minutes prior to air time

• Day-to-day production while maintaining a long vision for the direction of assigned news programs.

SUPERVISORY

• Supervise performance and development of assigned broadcast team members; this may include anchors, producers, writers, associate producers and production assistants

• Conduct annual performance planning (goal setting) for each team member

• Provide appropriate and timely on-going performance feedback to assigned team members to continually improve the quality of the broadcast.

• In consultation with Human Resources, prepare annual Performance Planning and Appraisal Report for assigned team members.

OTHER DUTIES:

• Determine show vision and showcase major stories

• Assign and edit stories to writers on the team

• Contribute story ideas on a daily, weekly and long-range basis

• The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.
